An exhibit featuring photographs from Claudia Berlinski, assistant professor of Art at Youngstown State University, is now on display at the Butler Institute of American Art in Youngstown.

The show, titled “Claudia Berlinski: Regional Photography Exhibition” runs until Feb. 5, 2017.

“This body of work is steeped in a personal, and global, obsession to record things visually,” Berlinski said. “With the availability of camera phones every person can…is…wants to be…a photographer. I am no different. Part of me views it as a hoarding behavior – a need to capture this moment, this point of view – and save it forever.”

She has made contributions to print portfolios with Mid-America Print Council and Ochosi Editions, and has curated group exhibitions, most recently at Summit ArtSpace in Akron. Her work is included in several private and public collections nationwide and includes printmaking, cell phone photography, mixed media drawing and altered books.

This exhibition is funded in part through a University Research Council Grant at YSU.

The YSU Department of Art is acknowledged by full accreditation by the National Association of Schools of Art and Design, an organization whose membership includes 309 schools out of approximately 2,500 art departments nationwide.
